A Message from the President

Thank you for joining us for our 2016-2017 season full of exciting shows as well as some old favorites:

  • We’ll kick off the Halloween season with Jekyll & Hyde the Musical, a thriller sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
  • As a special treat this year, the Grand Theatre is partnering with the University of Utah’s School of Music for Amahl and the Night Visitors December 1-3—a limited engagement and charming family show, so get your tickets now.
  • January we will once again feature our Backstage Concert Series showcasing the amazing talents of Erica Hansen and Dee-Dee Darby-Duffin. January will also see the return of the renowned Sundance Film Festival to the Grand Theatre, the festival’s largest venue in Salt Lake City.
  • The classical farce The Comedy of Errors will debut in February as the Grand's first Shakespearean production in over 15 years. This rousing comedy will appear backstage, so get your tickets early.
  • As always, March belongs to our American Classic Series. This year we are thrilled to present A Streetcar Named Desire, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play about love, betrayal, and tragedy that has captivated audiences for almost 70 years.
  • To close out our season we are very pleased to bring you the Tony Award-winning show Hairspray. Join us for teen romance, fabulous music, and plus-sized fun as we take you back to the days of the sock hop.

SLCC’s stunning Center for Arts and Media brings together the latest technology and resources in digital arts education, combines the best teachers in the valley, and puts them all in one environment—sharing, creating, inspiring, and collaborating throughout its 130,000 square feet. The stage has been set for student success here at SLCC.  We are your community college and our many resources—like this wonderful theatre—are here for everyone to enjoy. Please encourage your neighbors and colleagues to join here at the Grand.
